About Me

I snowboard, I wear tank tops in the summer, I play basketball, I coach basketball and I draw cartoons. I live in Mukilteo, a suburb of Seattle, just to the North. I have a wife that skis and a 11 year old son that rides. He's pretty good. He keeps up with all of us, and loves to ride the park now. In the summer, I like to ride motorcycles, until the snow comes back!!

My Blog: Wednesday, August 09, 2006
I went in yesterday to find out the results of the MRI... wasn't good. Turns out, there's a chipped bone that needs to be re-attached, the ball of the humerus bone (the bicep bone) is dented. The ball is softer bone, so when it dislocates, it gets knocked around on the harder socket bone and dents. They may need to fix that. I guess they just bondo it up or somethin'. AND, the labrum, the cartilege that keeps the arm in the socket, is detached and torn off the bone. That is why it keeps dislocating so easy. Nothin' there to keep it in. Once it hits a certain position, the labrum is not there to keep it from sliding out, so slip, whamo, my shoulder goes sliding forward. It's a lot of fun, let me tell ya.

They will need to do full on surgery and it's going to take up to 6 months of heal time. So, since I don't have 6 months right now, I'm opting to wait until next May. I have fall soccer coming up, I'm building a new deck and renovating the front yard, snowboarding season (pass already paid for!!) and a new job that requires both hands... I just can't afford to take all that time away. I think, if I work out and get the muscles rebuilt, wear my brace religiously, and go a little bit conservative, then I should be OK.
